Dance studio rules
At Victoria’s School of Dance, we believe our students learn best when they are free from distraction.
We focus on proper techniques and appropriate behavior and believe this focus begins before dance class even begins.
The dance studio is a learning facility. The waiting area must remain quiet during classes. Noise projects into the classroom and is distracting to the students and instructors.
Absolutely no food, fruit drinks, candy, gum soda or coffee are to be brought into the studio. Please leave food and drink containers outside. Only water bottles are allowed. Please leave all food and drink containers in the designated trash container outside.
Students must arrive on time for class, but not more than 15 minutes prior to class time.
The first 5 minutes of class is allowed for taking attendance followed by stretching. Stretching is very important and reduces injuries to the student.
Proper behavior is expected
Any student who misbehaves in class will receive a warning. If the problem persists, the student must leave the classroom and may return once their behavior improves. A child will not be allowed to disrupt the other students.
All students are encouraged to practice at home. The classes will begin working on recital routines shortly after the holidays. You may request a copy of your child’s music from the instructor. These are $2 for the CD.
Parents are not allowed in the classroom during class. Parents are invited in at times, to observe the last 5 minutes of class. This prepares the student for performing in front of an audience, as well as letting the parent see what has been learned.
Please do not interrupt the instructor or students during class time. If you need assistance, please see the studio manager or wait until class is over. If you would like to speak to an instructor, please leave a message and she will get back to you as quickly as possible.
Brothers and sisters brought to the studio during a student’s class must be supervised by a parent, at all times. Loud and/or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. This included playing in and blocking the hallway leading to the front door. This is dangerous, as well as distracting to students, teachers and other parents. A warning will be given the first time. If the disturbance continues, you will be asked not to bring siblings to the studio during class times.
All Combination Class students (age 6 and under) should use the restroom prior to class.
Dress code rules
Combination Class students are required to wear a black leotard and pink tights. Older students may wear a skirt over their leotard.
Long hair should be in a pony tail or a neat bun. Please, no exceptions.
All Combo Class tap shoes (which ordinarily tie) must have elastic sewn through the eyelets. Class time is wasted if the instructor must stop to tie shoe laces.
All dance shoes must have the student’s name printed inside using permanent marker. Please be sure all shoes are placed into your dance bag before leaving class. The studio is not responsible for lost shoes, tights, clothing or jewelry.
